Our new home has a great amount of built in bookshelves in the living room and family room. Fortunately, I love good books and we have a large collection of hardback classics with which we can begin to fill the multitude of shelves. Even so, I still have many shelves that lay bare. I am constantly on the hunt for beautiful books that inspire and are visually appealing. Today, Penguin Books is releasing a new range of hardback classic books. These pretty cloth-bound books were designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith. The collection includes titles such as Great Expectations, Sense and Sensibility, and one of my all time favorites, Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. What could be more lovely than well written words wrapped in beautiful design?{image: via style.com}

The children are are nestled all snug in their beds and my husband and I are finished filling stockings and piling gifts beneath the tree. We are savoring these moments of stillness and peace before the morning mayhem begins. Wherever you are and however you may celebrate, I wish you the merriest of Christmases. I'll be back next week with some end of year/decade posts!

We have come a long way from the days of Joe Namath and his fur sideline coat!
There is no doubt that the big game is going to be all the rage this weekend. As usual, the press has been gearing up for the Super Bowl for weeks. It seems they are as excited for the creative commercials and halftime show as they are the actual game. We have to admit, while we are both football fans, this year we have no allegiance to either team.
We simply can't help ourselves. When most people think of the Super Bowl, they think of a great chili recipe to bring to their hosts' home, yet we find that our minds drift to the colors that each team wears with great pride. It's not just the terrible towels and the cheese heads that are a vibrant yellow. This hue seems to be a hot color in design and fashion at the moment as well. Whether you are cheering for the Packers or the Steelers, we have posted a few images to inspire!
May the best team win!

Sorry for the sporadic posts as of late. With summer break in full swing I find it harder to get to settle into any sort of routine. I need to depart from my usual topics of choice to give a shout out to my amazing brother in law R.A. Dickey. He is pitching this year for the New York Mets and his performance thus far this season has been outstanding. His story is incredible and if baseball is your thing, I encourage you to read it here. He is pitching tonight and the game will be on ESPN. Go R.A.!!! (I promise to be back with the regularly scheduled programming soon!)

Whew! It has been a whirlwind of a month and I am ready to slow down and enjoy these last few days before Christmas. The cards are sent, the shopping is finished, and our bags are packed. I am so excited to be traveling to snowy Washington D.C. today. I hope that you have checked your list twice and are able to savor the final days of the season! Labels: Random
I am so excited to write this post. My friend Kayce's house has been featured in this month's Country Living! She was one of my first friends when I moved to Nashville and she has been a dear and faithful one ever since. Most people are amazed that she runs a successful children's clothing business and is a mother to seven kids, but if you met her what you would be most impressed with is her casual grace and unassuming self confidence. Kayce is not only my friend but as of a few months ago she also became my neighbor. Our new home is down and across the street from this stylish abode. I can't tell you how many times my children have pattered down her charming halls.
She has style that money can't buy and she knows how to pull it all together on a dime. A former designer for Ralph Lauren, her style is certainly classic, rooted in English tradition, but she always mixes it up with something unexpected and modern. Be sure to pick up a copy of this month's Country Living to see the full spread for yourself. I promise you will be inspired. I couldn't be prouder, can you tell?
Kayce's husband Scott built this charming playhouse himself. It even has bunks for sleeping!
With seven children, sharing rooms is a must!
The grid of pear drawings on the wall? Kayce drew them all.
Framed pages from a vintage Babar book with chairs she found at a thrift store.
One of Kayce's favorite hobbies is collecting shells while on vacation in the Carribean. I have "shelled" with her, and she is serious about her search! This breakfront in the dining room houses all of her ocean treasures.
A fun modern space in the basement where the kids can do homework or just hang out.
Who looks like this after seven kids? And the seagrass covered hallways, divine!!Labels: Random
